About Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a state of focused attention resulting in a heightened ability to accept suggestions and make changes. It is a naturally occurring state of mind that we cycle into and out of all day long, not just a phenomenon that occurs in an office somewhere. The truth is, even though we like to think we’re in control of our lives, we’re actually being hypnotized much of the time. Parents, siblings, spouses, friends, coaches, doctors, the media, and society in general all influence our subconscious programming. This can work for us, or against us. We begin life with a clean slate, but perception occurs with our earliest experiences. Our perceptions become our beliefs, whether they’re healthy, valid, and helpful, or not.
Hypnotherapy is the deliberate use of the hypnotic state, and the mind’s own natural abilities, to eliminate blockages of perception, belief, energy, or otherwise in order to facilitate healing change and growth. A hypnotherapist is a teacher, teaching people to open themselves to the use of skills they already possess deep inside. A session isn’t a passive treatment –something done “to” you. It is an interactive process and requires your 100% participation.
