FAQs

  1. “What if I can’t be hypnotized?”Anyone who wants to be, and has the ability to follow directions, can be hypnotized. It’s a natural, normal process. Ever daydreamed? Done something automatically, without really thinking? Then you’ve been in a hypnotic state. (Athletes and musicians refer to it as “being in the zone”.)
  2. “I’m worried about being out of control. Can you make me do something I don’t want to?” fsForget what you’ve seen in the movies and on T.V. Hypnotists don’t have superpowers. Learning how to work with the power of your mind will help you gain control, not lose it. No hypnotist can make you do something you don’t really want to do….even if it’s good for you.
  3. “What does hypnosis feel like?”Hypnosis itself doesn’t feel like anything. It’s a state of mind, not a physical sensation or emotion. It is common, however, to feel amazingly refreshed, clear-headed and focused after a session.
  4. “What if I can’t come out of hypnosis?” It is impossible to get “stuck” in hypnosis. You are awake, aware, and in control the whole time.
  5. “What’s the difference between hypnotherapy and the stage show I just saw? I would never get up on stage and act like that!” duckA hypnotherapist works with you one-on-one to resolve issues and achieve personal goals. Stage hypnosis is a performance art. Its purpose is to entertain. Stage hypnotists are highly skilled at selecting volunteers who have a strong desire and willingness to follow directions. As unbelievable as it might seem, people quack like ducks or sing like Elvis because they want to and enjoy the attention.
  6. “What about kids? Does hypnosis work for them too?”Absolutely! Kids are great at hypnosis. They are naturally flexible, creative thinkers. In fact, young children are in a hypnotic/suggestible state much of the time. Bed wetting, test anxiety, lack of focus, low self-esteem, sports performance: all are examples of what can be addressed through hypnosis.
